Job Summary Responsible for the Medical Technology Program and education required for laboratory team members including in-services and orientation of new team members. Oversees Point of Care (POC) testing for the hospital and safety in the laboratory in regards to OSHA compliance. # Job Responsibilities Responsible for the organization, administration, periodic review, planning, development, evaluation, and general effectiveness of the Medical Technology Program, as well as handling administrative duties including; attendance, grades, and communication with affiliates such as National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS). Teaches the clinical and didactic portion of Medical Technology Program curriculum to students. Interviews and participates in the selection of applicants according to established criteria. Coordinates placement and scheduling of all other students (academic interns, AHES, KY May, etc.). Plans and conducts departmental orientation of all new team members. Orients phlebotomists to job specific duties through training, scheduling, and re-evaluating. Conducts safety training which includes initial training and annual review. Provides in-service and continuing education opportunities for the laboratory through the coordination of calendars and presentations. Documents and maintains in-service and competency records for each laboratory team member. Qualifications Master#s degree or higher in related field required upon hire A minimum of 5 years# relevant experience required MT - Certified as a Medical Technologist through American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required upon hire OR MLS - Certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist through American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required upon hire Skills and Attributes Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
