In order to continually promote and create innovative products that support our vision we are currently seeking a 3rd shift Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator for the Owensboro, KY manufacturing facility.
Main Responsibilities:
• Assists with creating, reviewing and managing EHS policies, guidelines, and practices at the site to ensure compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations and standards while incorporating industry best practices and engineering principles.
• Supervises administration of EHS policies and practices at the site.
• Assists in planning, organizing, and controlling EHS activities and budgets.
• Participates in developing EHS goals, objectives and systems for the facility.
• Responsible for investigating EHS related incidents and working with resources to determine root- cause and develop corrective actions.
• Educates and coaches members of the organization on EHS related principles.
• Responsible for assisting in the management of internal and external auditing of EHS programs.
• Collaborates with management team, employees and contracted services to carry out EHS program activities.
• Assists in data collection and recording for EHS regulatory compliance.
• Assists in the identification, analysis and control of occupational hazards by applying professional knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Conducts on-site medical surveillance for OSHA programs.
• Maintains recordkeeping for EHS programs.
• Advises on safety requirements for installations or modifications of building/structures, storage and piping systems, and machinery or equipment to eliminate occupational hazards.
• Responsible for assisting in the management of the facilities First Response Team.
• Assists with management of radiation safety program.
• Assists in leading and managing plant safety committee
• Assists with management and shipments of hazardous waste and hazardous materials.
• Assumes responsibility for professional development through participation in continuing education offerings that maintain and update knowledge of EHS practices including applicable legal regulation s.
Requirements
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental and/or safety related sciences or equivalent experience required. Environmental and/or safety certifications preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Past working experience in an environmental and safety role preferred. Experience in filing regulatory environmental reports preferred. Knowledge in 40 CFR Environmental Regulations; 29 CFR Occupational Health and Safety Standards; 49 CFR DOT Regulations preferred.
SKILL:
Must possess strong analytical and interpersonal skills and the ability to meet and interact with entire employee population. Strong computer, oral and written communication, and problem solving skills are essential. Must be self-directed and able to exercise initiative within the scope of assigned authority. Strong customer service skills and ability to maintain confidentiality, a must.
OTHER:
Ability to walk long distances, climb ladders, and wear personal protective equipment (fall protection/ respiratory protection). Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. 3rd shift, 11:30pm - 7:30am.
