Payroll Specialist
SimVentions is a 100% employee-owned business and has consistently been voted one of Virginia's Best Places to Work. We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to process timesheets within the accounting system and payroll within the payroll system on a bi-weekly basis. This includes reviewing timesheets for accuracy, completion, and proper approval before processing payroll. Payroll is then processed to ensure correct compensation as well as benefit and tax deductions. Reconciliations are also done bi-weekly to ensure data in the accounting system is correct.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain confidential information
• Create a profile for new employees; assign time off project codes, tax withholdings, benefit deductions and update/amend employee profile
• Process and reconcile bi-weekly payroll data and employee deductions
• Make accurate General Ledger entries for payroll accounts and balance payroll accounts within the accounting software
• Check timesheets for accuracy
• Enter data into databases and spreadsheets
• Handle direct deposit requests and data
• Process wage garnishments
• Make adjustments in pay for raises and bonuses and leaves of absence
• Work with Human Resources and other departments to administer group benefits
• Ensure pay records are accurate and up to date
• Ensure tax accounts for various states are set up and being remitted correctly
• Issue ad hoc reports
• Prepare, customize and provide various reports of payroll, benefits, deductions, and timesheet data
• Perform timesheet training for new hires weekly and as requested
• Other duties and projects as assigned
Requirements:
• Three or more years of accounting or payroll experience
• Excellent knowledge accounting principles and practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects at one time and ability to multi-task
• Thorough research and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work with a team on-site in Fredericksburg, VA
• Good research and analysis skills
Preferred Skills & Experience:
• Unanet GovCon experience
• UKG experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in finance or accounting-related field
Clearance: Applicants selected may be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

Compensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements.
The projected annual compensation range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 (USD). This estimate reflects the standard salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package that SimVentions offers.
