JOB
Position is responsible for general cleaning duties of a school or administrative building that may require frequent lifting up to 45 pounds, moving up to 75 pounds and the operation of commercial cleaning equipment. Tasks performed are specific with recurring assignments and are performed under general supervision of Building Operations Supervisor. May be required to work after hours, weekends and holidays. Will be required to work Monday – Friday.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Performs general cleaning duties to include inside fixtures, floors, walls, and windows.Assists with school lunch coverage (day shift) and cleaning of cafeteria.Performs cleaning duties to include moving furniture, stripping floors, snow removal, and trash removal.Monitors halls and restrooms to ensure adequate stock levels.Secures building where applicable.Keeps grounds and outside walkways clean around the immediate perimeter of the building.Provides coverage for after school and weekend activities. Setting-up and tearing-down for school eventsMay be occasionally required to assist Building Operations Supervisor (BOS) and maintenance personnel with building repairs.Perform building inspections using CleanTelligent software.Unlock and lock facilities as required.Reports maintenance issues and preventative repairs to BOS daily.Performs other related duties as assigned.Budgetary Responsibility: N/AReport Preparation: N/AEquipment Operation: Vacuum cleaner, wet vacuum, kaivac machines, carpet cleaner/extractor, mops and bufferContacts: Daily contact with staff, administration and students within a school environment. Work Direction: Receives written and verbal requests from Custodial Manager, Zone Supervisor, school staff and administration for work to be done.Supervision: N/ADecision Making: Some decision making in terms of work priorities. Supervisor’s approval required for most decisionsFormal Policy-Setting Responsibilities: N/APhysical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, handle paper files, records, computer and equipment controls, talk and hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The employee must frequently lift up to 45 pounds and/or move up to 75 pounds and possess the strength to operate commercial cleaning equipment. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to hot or cold conditions and risk of electrical shock. Some work is performed outside. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
