Overview
We are searching for a talented Product Design and Development Engineer at our Mankato, MN facility to support development for our aviation hangar door products, including; structural and component engineering, design, testing, documentation, and rollout of new products, as well as upgrading features of our existing line of high performance door systems. In this role, you will be working closely with our engineering, operations, marketing and technical field sales team to engineer and deploy these new products and features to the market.

Responsibilities
• Lead the efforts to engineer new product within our aviation product family.
• Lead the efforts to redesign existing products to enhance functionality, improve manufacturability, and/or reduce costs.
• Create product design project charters and specification sheets.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Technical Field sales to execute these projects within the project charter.
• Present product designs and cost analysis (Return on Investment) to management and stakeholders.
• Create models and manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks 3D CAD Software.
• Perform engineering, including structural calculations and FEA (Utilizing SolidWorks Simulation)
• Coordinate with outside vendors and consultants, including Certified Professional Engineers (PE’s) to validate designs.
• Design test prototypes and coordinate 3rd party testing (Examples: Hurricane Testing, UL safety standards testing, cycle testing)
• Create product templates and cutsheets for new options and features in SolidWorks, Word and other publishing software.
• Create support documentation including specifications, product data sheets and installation support documentation.
• Assist Engineering Team with resolving technical product issues.
• Support Engineering capacity needs, including creating Drawings for Approval and Drawings for Production for current orders (0%-30% of time)
Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Manufacturing, or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with 3D CAD software: SolidWorks (preferred), Creo, Inventor, etc. Experience with FEA software: SolidWorks Simulation (preferred)
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Excellent problem-solving and technical skills
• Able to effectively locate, communicate, and document information
• Ability to travel to project or test sites as necessary (5-10%)
