Volunteer Engagement Specialist
The YMCA of Greenville is a dynamic and rapidly growing association that seeks to strengthen the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Reporting to the Development Director, the role of the Volunteer Engagement Specialist is responsible for engaging friends and family of the Caine Halter Family YMCA and the Verdae YMCA to become volunteers, lifelong members, and legacy donors to the organization. This position is located at the Caine Halter Family YMCA.

• Collaborate with staff to develop, promote, and implement a robust volunteer program and services to further the engagement of volunteers.
• Manage and maintain the current volunteer management software, and assist with screenings, referrals, and placement of prospective volunteers.
• Collaborate with like-minded organizations to promote and increase volunteerism.
• Develop meaningful relationships with new and existing members that will move constituents from member only to member, volunteer, and donor.
• Establish relationships with Greenville businesses that promote social responsibility and philanthropy.
• Identify key partners within Greenville to help the YMCA create a meaningful volunteer program for teens.
• Develop and implement a program that will steward and recognize volunteers and their impact on our YMCA and community.
• Onboard and monitor volunteers’ completion of the policies and procedures.
Other Expectations
• Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
• Attend/complete required abuse risk management training.
• Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
• Follow mandated reporting requirements.
• Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.
• Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of two years of professional experience in volunteer management.
• Must be detail-oriented, possess strong organizational skills and can multi-task.
• Ability to be efficient and productive in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have enthusiasm and possess excellent customer service skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to develop effective working relationships.
• Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly and outgoing personality.
• Excellent oral and verbal communication skills, computer skills in addition to telephone skills.
• Must be reliable with a strong focus on accuracy.
• Always maintain positive relationships with members, participants, and staff.
• Must complete New Staff Orientation, Blood Bourne Pathogen, Child Abuse Prevention, and CPR/First Aid training within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to compile, understand, and apply data to improve programming.
• Ability to develop and apply marketing strategies across print and electronic platforms.
