Under the guidance of the Program Director, the sports coordinator will oversee specific sports for 3-6 year olds offered by the YMCA. Currently the YMCA offers soccer, volleyball, tball and basketball.

The position will require Saturday mornings throughout the season. Six from April-May, May-June, and June-July. Basketball will require six Saturdays from January-February. This is a part time job. The coordinator will be off during "off seasons.â€. Must have knowledge of sports. The coordinator will be required to supervise, schedule, recruit/train volunteers and motivate your team of coaches each Saturday, therefore, high energy and organizational skills are a must.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Â Â Â Â Â Welcomes all participants with a smile each week.
2. Â Â Â Â Â On the field for each sport.
3. Â Â Â Â Â Explains and demonstrates the drills and skills of the week to all sports volunteers.
4. Â Â Â Â Â Observe volunteers during drills and games while executing the same with your team.
5. Â Â Â Â Â Explains basic fundamentals of the sport to all volunteers.
6. Â Â Â Â Â Must be willing to move back and forth, displaying a high energy, encouraging atmosphere, during entire shift (3-4 hours)
7. Â Â Â Â Â Notify supervisor of any damaged equipment or shortages.
8. Â Â Â Â Â Wear appropriate activity attire and footwear. Shirt provided by the YMCA
9. Â Â Â Â Â Schedule all volunteers for weeks and times they will be working/playing.
7.  Sports Coordinator will be responsible for coaching a team as well as supervising, if needed.
10. Â Execute Branch emergency action plan as necessary.
11. Â Organize and maintain all equipment.
12. Â Order equipment as needed
13. Â Carry out the countdown responsibilities for each sport (given at time of hire)
14. Â Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
·         Ability to solve practical problems and deal with competitive parents in a professional manner while executing planned drills and games each week. ·         Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
·         Required to stay moving regularly during a 3 to 4 hour shift.
·         The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 45 pounds.

QUALIFICATIONS
·         High School diploma or GED. Experience with sports is necessary.
