DESCRIPTION

Major Job Function
MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Facilitates the municipal swim facility's day-to-day operation, including scheduling for lifeguards, admission staff, and concession workers. Assists in creation and reviews everyday swim facility procedures, including emergency swim facility procedures and maintenance of swim facilities and equipment.
2. Staff Hiring assist in interviewing new and returning lifeguards. Communicates with the HR department & Aquatics Director concerning new and returning employees. Make recommendations for the roles of swim facility personnel.
3. Assign and direct work of swim facility personnel; work with supervisory staff to build, post and fill schedule to ensure coverage for all lifeguards, concession workers, and admissions.
4. Manage swim facility cash operations and recordkeeping. Facilitate the collection of fees; prepare daily records of receipts and deposits in accordance with City policies.
5. Assist in the Maintaintenance of inventory of necessary materials for staff (e.g., timesheets, float aids, first aid, lifesaving supplies, etc.) Ensures proper use, care cleaning, and storage of all swim facility equipment. Assist in tracking, ordering and maintaining staff supplies.
6. Maintain Cleanliness of the Facility Ensure cleanliness is maintained by coordinating staff and assisting in cleaning when necessary. Responsible for cleaning the diving well and testing water chemistry, and changing strainer baskets as needed.
7. Work as a lifeguard; physically protect the lives of all persons using the municipal swimming pool. Enforce rules.
Perform related duties as assigned or apparent.
8. Assist and maintain ongoing, in-service training for swim facility staff. Assist Director in ensuring lifeguards are meeting monthly in-service requirements through onsite training and keep records of all employed lifeguard's certification expiration dates.
9. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements for Position
High school diploma or equivalent. Six months experience as a lifeguard. Experience in swimming pool operations, including care of equipment or expertise in swimming lesson instruction. Possession of American Red Cross First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and Automated External Defibrillator certifications.

Strength: Carry up to thirty pounds and lift up to thirty pounds;
Stamina: Continuously endure exposure to various weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Education, or Sociology. One year experience assisting in a supervisory capacity, including management of personnel or facilities. Possession of a Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certificate, including six months of swimming lesson instruction.
Supplemental Information
HOURS OF WORK: Position involves 4-8-hour shifts and could work up to 40 hours a week. The facility is open May 25, 2024 and closes August 2024. The position requires additional time before the opening of the swim facility for staff training starting early April. There is also additional opportunities to assist with Rec programs through Mid- October 2024. Rotating weekend management expectations.
NATURE OF WORK: Under supervision, this position primarily consists of coordinating the municipal swim facility's schedule and ensuring adequate staffing on a daily basis. The scheduling supervisor is responsible for assisting in the scheduling and management of on deck staff, concession workers, and admissions.
