Ideal Qualities
To be considered for this role, here are the skills we are looking for:
• The desire to be a change agent for quality, seeking continuous improvement throughout all of your work
• You are an expert at analyzing and manipulating large sets of data to spot trends and risks
• At least 2 years in a similar role with comparable goals and responsibilities (strong internship/co-op experience will also be considered)
• A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Industrial Engineering or Statistics
• Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, Process Capability, and ISO 9001/14001 are part of your vocabulary
• Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills that help you get to a root cause
• You enjoy, and have experience working with, quality tools such as histograms, standard deviation, and frequency analysis
• An interest in manufacturing processes, plus a comfortability working on a manufacturing floor
• The desire to work as part of team, contributing hands-on assistance during critical QA holds and customer return investigations
Job Responsibilities
As the Quality Engineer, you will work collaboratively with all divisions to assure product quality by establishing and implementing process and product parameter controls. Your projects will be ever-changing, but will include:
• Processing failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) of all tire manufacturing while establishing checks and controls through the use of the Yokohama Control Plan to improve tire quality and reduce risks associated with poor quality
• Leading quality improvement activities across all divisions
• Reviewing and modifying Factory Standards when needed
• Being an ISO 9001/14001 internal auditor
• Supporting QA holds and customer return investigations as needed through containment verification (Suspect Tire Search files and scanning suspect ticket lists, etc.). This includes coordinating with production divisions, updating hold lists, and presenting information during hold situations
• Using statistics and other quality tools to analyze equipment and processes for potential quality improvements as measured by PPK analysis
• Investigating, analyzing, and presenting component traceability and material usage
• Following-up on and verifying countermeasures put in place to improve quality
• Generating custom reports using Excel and Oracle to share information with a variety of end-users
• Special projects assigned by QA Manager and representing the department interests to each area of production
