Full job description
Under the direction of the Director of Radiology Administration, manages the daily operations of assigned section(s) of Radiology, which may include one or more of the following: General Diagnostic, CT, MR, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Testing centers, and Women’s Imaging. Assures compliance for all Regulatory Agencies, which includes credentials, education and training, policies and procedures, quality assurance, radiation safety, etc. for their assigned sections.

Daily Operations: Provides oversight for daily operations in areas of responsibility to included daily workflow. May delegate but oversees staffing levels and adjusts as appropriate. Evaluates radiology services and maintains standards of quality. Is responsible for interviewing, making recommendations for hire, department specific orientation, annual performance reviews, counseling and discipline in a timely manner. Obtains appropriate credentialing verification for licensed staff to meet all regulatory requirements. Oversees required education/training programs for staff and maintains records for compliance.
Financial: Assists in the preparation of the capital and operational budget and completes variance analysis as appropriate. Makes recommendations to the Director for new programs and/or services or reductions in programs or services. Performs reconciliation of charges for procedures performed in areas of responsibility.
Quality Control and Performance Improvement: Coordinates Quality Improvement activities for the department and participates as appropriate on hospital wide committees and process action teams. Participates in the development of new policies and procedures for the department and regularly updates policies as indicated. Participates in the evaluation of and decision to purchase new equipment and technologies. Assures equipment is maintained and Physicist reports are completed annually.
Maintains statistical information regarding staffing, quality issues and prepares analysis of the data.
Personnel Development/Education identifies educational opportunities and needs for staff. Actively participates in the clinical ladder process by identifying projects, overseeing activities and making recommendations for clinical ladder awardees. Supports the Radiologic Technology Program by maintaining a professional relationship with students as well as assigning appropriate staff to supervise the students in the clinical setting. May participate on advisory committee’s related to education.
Customer/Patient Satisfaction: treats all customers including staff in a courteous and respectful manner. Provides oversight for the development and implementation of department specific initiatives. Holds staff accountable for adherence to customer satisfaction policies and procedures and initiatives. Participates in and encourages staff to participate in activities in the community that promote TCH and its charitable mission. Acts as a liaison to other departments and referring physician offices to provide service and resolve issues.
IT Functions: All managers are responsible to oversee proper use of the IT functions within their areas of responsibility. Holds staff accountable for proper entering of data and tracks compliance as part of the employee's annual performance review.
(The following applies only to the Radiology manager responsible for the overall IT services for all cost centers.)
Acts as a liaison with other Imaging Departments at TCH regarding nursing related issues, policies and procedures. Ensures appropriate education to patients and patient families regarding surgery plan of care, priorities and follow-up required. Ensures complete and timely communication with peers, physicians and other departments to ensure excellence in the patient’s continuum of care.
(This does not apply to all Radiology Managers. The manager responsible for this function serves in the capacity of clinical manager for Radiology.)
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
EDUCATION: Completion of an approved Imaging Technology Program. Bachelor's degree in radiologic technology a plus or other imaging related field or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Must possess an active ARRT licensure.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 5 years of diversified experience as a Radiologic Technologist or in an Imaging related field to include exposure to a wide variety of imaging modalities.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Must have a minimum of 5 years of related Radiology experience. Prior leadership experience preferred.
LICENSES REGISTRATIONS &/or CERTIFICATIONS:
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or other related imaging field. Current licensure by the State of Ohio and Kentucky or other appropriate regulatory body.
Other Credentials Required or Preferred: NONE
