The Senior Quality & Mission Assurance (QMA) Manager is responsible for overall leadership of the Armament Systems Business Unit’s Quality & Mission Assurance organization, including Mission Assurance, Program / Product Quality, Supplier Quality, Quality Management System, Audits, Training, Inspection, and Calibration, consisting of 100 team members across four locations. This role is a Manager of Managers and also manages 7 individual contributors supporting the Quality Management System/s, Audits (Internal and External), and Training. This position includes team members in Plymouth, MN, Mesa, AZ, and Independence, MO locations. This position reports directly to the Weapons Systems Division Director of Quality & Mission Assurance.
The QMA team is tightly integrated with all Business Functional Areas in support of Program and Business Process mission success.
The Senior QMA Manager is an experienced leader, possessing demonstrated expertise in the core areas of strategy, process development, process analysis and performance management, operational excellence, risk management, and overall continuous improvement.
This role is required to be onsite at either Plymouth, MN or Mesa, Arizona. Ability to travel minimum 25% to support team.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Manage Business Units QMA organization consisting of Quality and Mission Assurance Managers, along with the QMS, Audits, and Training team members.
• Responsible for the QMA Strategic Objectives and deployment, aligning Corporate, Sector, Division and Business Unit objectives.
• Responsible for the execution and implementation of the Quality Management System and AS9100 Certification.
• Responsible for overall Continuous Improvement system and ensuring consistent continuous improvement culture.
• Provide coaching and development for Managers and Quality / Mission Assurance professionals.
• Monitor and ensure performance goals are achieved, by identifying, communicating, and mitigating risks and opportunities to the business and programs.
• Establish and manage key project and process indicators / measures to assess project success and process performance.
• Ensures policies, procedures, and processes are in place to assure the performance and quality of products with conformance to established standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Proactively work with functions and segments to continuously improve our Quality Management System and correct any identified deficiencies in support of our mission and strategies.
• Evaluate business systems and processes for risk, problem identification, and correction. Ensuring that corrective measures address all stakeholders’ voices and meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
• Support Return to Green, Failure Analysis, and Corrective Action activities with focus on full resolution and future risk mitigation.
• Drive culture change toward more proactive risk mitigation, data driven decision making, and continuous improvement mindset.
• Work with personnel at all levels and across the organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must have 14 years of management or leadership experience.
Will consider a bachelor’s degree with 10 years of management or leadership experience, or, a master’s degree with 8 years of experience.
• Degree in STEM, Operations/Manufacturing, or Business field is highly desired.
• US Citizen
• Ability to acquire a Security Clearance and ATF Employee Possessor
• Experience with DoD contracts and requirements
• Lean-Six Sigma
• Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Awareness
• Risk Management and Analysis
• AS9100 or Equivalent Quality Management System experience
• Process Performance Measurement, Analysis, Continuous Improvement
• Statistical Process Control
• Ability to travel; approximately 25%
Desired Qualifications:
• Cross Functional/ Cross Site Corrective Action Board Lead Experience
• Supplier Quality/ Quality Council Lead Experience
• Experience with Corporate wide projects
• Proven experience communicating at all levels of the organization
• ASQ Certified Quality Manager / Organizational Excellence (CQM/OE)
• Program / Project Management Experience
• Lean-Six Sigma Black Belt
Salary Range: $141,900 - $212,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
