Job Details Job Description:
As a Cost Accountant with expertise in Bill of Materials (BOM) within the plastics industry, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate cost accounting, efficient inventory management, and streamlined manufacturing processes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to optimize cost structures and support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
1. BOM Management:
- Develop, maintain, and update BOMs for all product lines, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and procurement teams to incorporate changes and improvements into BOMs.
- Monitor and analyze BOM variances to identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for improvement.
2. Cost Accounting:
- Perform cost analysis for materials, labor, and overhead to accurately determine product costs.
- Track and report on manufacturing variances, providing insights into cost drivers and recommending corrective actions.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including inventory valuation and cost reconciliation.
3. Inventory Management:
- Oversee inventory levels, ensuring adequate stock to meet production demands while minimizing carrying costs.
- Implement inventory control measures to prevent shrinkage, obsolescence, and stockouts.
- Conduct periodic physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
4. Materials Purchase:
- Collaborate with procurement team to source materials at optimal prices and terms.
- Evaluate supplier performance and negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms and conditions.
- Monitor market trends and commodity prices to anticipate cost fluctuations and mitigate risks.
5. Manufacturing Support:
- Provide cost-related guidance to manufacturing teams to optimize production processes and minimize waste.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Work closely with production planners to ensure accurate scheduling and resource allocation.
6. Software Proficiency:
- Proficient in using IQMS or similar ERP systems for cost accounting, BOM management, and inventory control.
- Leverage software tools and analytical skills to extract actionable insights and drive data-driven decision-making.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Proven experience in cost accounting, BOM management, and inventory control within the plastics industry.
- Proficiency in using IQMS or similar ERP systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision.
- Experience working in the plastics industry is a must-have.
- This is a hybrid position with 3 days a week in the office, requiring strong self-motivation and time management skills.
