Description
The English Department of Washington and Lee University (W&L) invites applications for a visiting assistant professorship in Film, starting in July 2024. This is a one-year position with the possibility of a renewal for a second year. Responsibilities include teaching introductory film, first year writing, and literature courses, for a total of six courses per year across three terms (two 12-week terms in Fall and Winter and W&L’s distinctive 4-week Spring term). The successful applicant’s courses will support the English Department, as well as the interdisciplinary minor in Film and Visual Culture.
W&L is a highly selective, independent, co-educational, liberal arts college of approximately 1850 undergraduate and 400 law students and located in Lexington, VA, three hours southwest of Washington, DC. W&L is consistently ranked among the top national liberal arts colleges. Established in 1749, it is the ninth oldest institution of higher learning in the nation.

Qualifications
A PhD or ABD status at the time of appointment is required.
