Position Summary
The Director of Information Technology seeks to ensure the streamlined operation of the IT department in alignment with the business objectives of the company. They will plan, coordinate, direct, and design IT-related activities, as well as provide administrative direction and support for the daily activities of the IT department. This person will also define and implement IT policies, procedures, and practices. The Director of IT will work closely with other decision makers in the company to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.
Duties/Responsibilities
• Lead IT Department in operational and strategic planning (innovation, allocation of resources)
• Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems
• Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the expansion of the IT department and the company’s technology
• Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives
• Oversee provision of end-user services (help desk and tech support)
• Work with stakeholders to define business and system requirements for new technology implementations
• Keep up to date with all current technologies
Duties/Responsibilities Cont.
• Manage the financial aspects of the IT department
• Approve and oversee projects and project portfolio
• Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision
• Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements
• Practice asset management for IT hardware, software, and equipment
• Manage IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions
• Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities
Qualifications
• Min., BA degree in Computer Science & 5 yrs related work
• MBA w/technology as core component
• Knowledge of current tech infrastructure, protocols, regulations, & standards
• Application support experience w/SQL & Delphi
• Understanding of HR practices/procedures, & project mgmt
• Leadership, written/oral communication, customer service, & interpersonal skills
• Ability to conduct & direct research into IT issues & products
• Presentation of ideas in business & user-friendly language
• General math calculations for business cases, budgets, etc
• Self-motivated, attention to detail
• Analytical, evaluative, & problem-solving abilities
• Prioritize & execute tasks under high-pressure
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
