The mission of CompuNet Clinical Laboratories is to provide quality diagnostic laboratory services to improve health outcomes within the communities we serve.

This exciting Technical Assistant position is at our Jamestown, Beavercreek, and Austin Landing Emergency Department locations. Phlebotomy experience is preferred but not required.
Full-time Night Shift 10:00pm to 6:30am with holiday & weekend rotation
Position Summary:
The FSED Technical Assistant Float will perform various tasks in assigned laboratory departments which may include, but is not limited to phlebotomy, specimen handling/processing and preparation, instrument loading, quality control and supply management. Role will also include performance of CLIA defined waived and moderately complex testing. All activities performed are within the associate’s scope of training and are under the guidance of technical staff.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Perform phlebotomy. • Perform processing functions to include receipt, distribution, core lab preparation/packing and storage of specimens. • Perform maintenance and set up of laboratory instrumentation. • Prepare and load quality control material. Evaluate quality control results for acceptability prior to patient testing and release into quality control program. • Load specimens onto laboratory instruments. • Operate laboratory instrumentation independently and recognizes instrument and equipment malfunctions. • Perform troubleshooting activities in conjunction with guidance from vendor hotline. • Performs and reports waived, and moderately complex testing as defined by CLIA, including evaluation of specimen acceptability. • Maintain competency and proficiency testing requirements within scope of training. • Assist in review of pending logs and follow-up to ensure testing is completed in a timely manner. • Under the guidance of technical staff perform functions such as lot to lot studies and calibration verification. • Track, inventory and order supplies as needed for day to day department operation. • Issue emergency release blood units. • Perform daily/weekly/monthly temperature, eye wash, safety shower checks. • Performs weekly analyzer maintenance, final verifies patient results, performs Unity bench review and other TA II duties as prescribed by the approved task list. • Keeps appropriate persons informed of problems and issues. • Handles problems appropriately and exhibits good judgment. • Handles shift workflow and operations of the laboratory and escalates issues to technical teams and/or laboratory leadership. • Handles all customer questions and concerns in a courteous and efficient manner following department policies and procedures and escalates issues to technical teams and/or laboratory leadership. • Comply with all company, department and regulatory policies and procedures which include compliance and safety protocols. • Perform other tasks and assignments as requested.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree preferred in Natural Science/Allied Health or current enrollment in Medical Laboratory Science program.
• Laboratory experience required.
• Medical terminology and keyboarding skills helpful.
Physical demands and work environment:
• Hand-finger dexterity to collect, process and test specimens.
• Ability to work in an environment where standing prolonged amounts of time may be required.
• Comprehension of verbal and written directions.
• Concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
• Ability to work within specified deadlines and timetables.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Must be able to work well under pressure or in stressful circumstances.
