Job Description
Laurel Ridge Community College seeks an engaging and creative instructor for a full-time faculty position (9-month position) to provide leadership and instruction for the cybersecurity programs. Typical workloads for full time faculty are normally 15 credit hours per semester with 10 student engagement hours required each week. Faculty members are also required to collaborate with others (full and part-time instructors and administrators) to ensure teaching uniformity and continuity of course material and expectations.
Based at the Middletown campus, the successful candidate will collaborate in the development of new course curriculum, degrees, certificates, and training as appropriate that align with the direction of the cybersecurity and information technology programs and the School of Professional Programs. The candidate will strengthen and expand relationships and partnerships with K-12, higher education, industry, and community organizations in support of the college mission, vision, and values. Laurel Ridge is looking for a faculty member with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in service, innovation, student success, and integrity in the performance of job duties. The candidate may be assigned to teach in traditional and non-traditional settings, including face-to-face, hybrid, dual enrollment, or online courses, which may be in a variety of lengths, as well as daytime, evenings, weekends, or at any of the Laurel Ridge locations. Additional duties include advising, recruiting, and service on college committees.
The potential teaching content includes, but is not limited to, cybersecurity, networking, and computer forensics, with specific learning components in the following areas: Cybersecurity foundations (Theory of security and privacy, models of trust and risk, secure communication and computation, cryptography, threat modeling), and secure systems (Secure O/S, databases, networks, digital forensics, offensive and defensive techniques).
Our AAS in Cybersecurity program is designated as a Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense and is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET. The successful candidate will work with current faculty to oversee the degree and certificate programs, support student success/retention initiatives and complete program requirements to maintain the ABET accreditation and NSA designation.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for the position is $49,711 to $97,650, per year, however, actual starting salary will commensurate with education and/or experience. The position is a 9 month faculty role and as such is eligible for the benefits package offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia for state agencies and the Virginia Community College System. Additional Information
KSA's/Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity or related field. Qualifying degrees and coursework must be awarded by a regionally accredited institution. International transcripts for the applicable degree must also include an evaluation by a credential evaluation service approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). CISSP, CSSP, Security+, CySA+ or other cybersecurity certification. Minimum of two years of full-time (or full-time equivalent) related cybersecurity experience. Additional Considerations Willingness to adopt and teach new and emerging technologies and industry certifications. Experience utilizing technology in teaching, preferably at a community college.
