Job Description
We are looking for an energetic and highly motivated Trailer Shop Manager to join our Team. This position is responsible for the overall accountability for managing a heavy-duty trailer shop. Responsibilities include the planning, scheduling, performing, directing, and evaluating the repair and servicing of equipment. The Trailer Shop Manager must advise, consult, and help team members. They will be responsible for developing a service minded shop while cultivating a superior safety culture.
Major Duties/Essential Functions:
* The position will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the shop operation while also providing hands-on maintenance to tractor assets.
* Customer interactions and communication
* Creating repair orders, estimates, and breakdown call as needed.
* Responsible for training newly hired technicians on shop processes, procedures, procedures, and systems.
* Responsible for ensuring technicians operate within DOT and OSHA guidelines.
* Responsible for scheduling work assignments and monitoring employee’s performance and productivity.
* Coaching and counseling technicians on work performance, attendance, and adherence to company policies.
* Monitor parts inventory ensuring accuracy and accountability in conjunction with the Parts Manager.
Technical Skills:
* Skilled in all types of tooling and equipment. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work in all types of weather. Ability to follow written and oral instructions, read schematics, and work with computerized programs for documenting purposes.
* Ability to apply the following technical skills is required to successfully complete the requirements of this position:
* Mechanical aptitude
* Basic electrical
* Foundation and air brake diagnostic and repair
* ABS diagnostics
Ability to recognize and assign out work in the following technical skills areas:
* PM and DOT inspections
* Tire repair and replacement
* Basic electrical and light repair
* Air brake diagnostic and repair
* ABS diagnostics and repair
* Wheel end repair
* Rebuild of suspensions
* Replace or repair coupler plates.
* Door frame repair
* Van and reefer floor repair or replacement
* High level steel and aluminum welding
* Fabrication
* Grinding
Office Skills:
* Organized and has the ability to deal with multiple activities in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication skills
* Customer focused
