General Responsibilities
The Advanced Practice Nurse, in consultation with the Medical Director, will provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management for patients admitted to the Inpatient Unit, as needed. A limited outpatient caseload may be maintained as appropriate. Admission and discharge, on-call coverage, holiday coverage and Licensed Professional Seclusion/Restraint responsibilities.
Additional Information
Qualifications Masters degree in nursing with a major in psychiatric/mental health from an accredited college or university. National certificatin as an Adult Psychiatric/Mental Health Advanced Practice Nurse. Licensed by the State of Indiana Health Professions Bureau as a Registered Nurse with Prescriptive Authority or eligible to apply for prescriptive authority. Experience with persons with serious mental illness in a psychiatric facility. Three (3) years supervisory experience preferred. Clinical Services Activities 1. Provides on-ging psychiatric evaluations for patients who, are assigned to the Inpatient Unit and Unity House. 2. Facilitates medication management for assigned patients. This activity is coordinated with the treating psychiatrist. 3. Facilitates emergency medication reviews as needed. May have privileges to order admission and discharge of patients from the Inpatient Unit at CMHC Inc. 4. On-call at least one night a week and provides holiday coverage as assigned. 5. Licensed provider (LP) coverage on call – must be 1 within 1 hour response time and provide orders and review. 6. May share responsibility for medication management with the treating psychiatrist by evaluating patients for medication management between regular appointments with the treating psychiatrist. 7. Consults with the Medical Director or staff psychiatrist on a regular basis as identified in the collaborative agreement between the APN and the psychiatrist. 8.
