Design Engineer

Located in St. Peter, Minnesota, this single site campus manufactures Jarraff All-Terrain Tree Trimmers, Linebacker Brush Cutter, and the Mini-Jarraff Urban Tree Trimmer.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 40 hours per week. Some flexibility in hours is allowed. This position does require some travel.
Job Purpose:
Performs engineering work related to planning and designing machines, engines, tools, and other mechanically functioning equipment to improve and expand Jarraff Industries, Inc. products.
Essential Functions:
• Maintain and design Jarraff products while applying knowledge of engineering principles.
• Confer with engineers and other personnel to design new product, implement product modifications and changes to Jarraff products.
• Evaluate potential design proposals, specifications, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs.
• Provide information to CAD Designers to support design efforts.
• Calculations for sizing of components, material specifications, structural elements, electrical and hydraulic.
• Machine Operations, testing and tuning.
• Prototype build support for validation phases.
• Lead concept brainstorming sessions with groups to drive innovative design ideas.
• Review BOMs for accuracy and completeness.
• Vendor/Supplier relationships.
• General data analysis from test results.
• Write test plans for validation of product.
• Lead DFMEA events during new product design projects.
• Knowledge of engineering BOM integration with MPR system (Microsoft GP).
• Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to communicate at high level across multiple departments.
• Evaluation of proposed design concepts with ability to analyze specific attributes of each for comparison.

Preferred Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing and engineering.
• Technical knowledge of hydraulics, electronics and Solidworks
