Expected Starting Salary Range: 28.15 - 35.98
SUBFUNCTION DEFINITION: Takes radiologic films or other scans of various portions of the body to assist in the detection of foreign bodies and the diagnosis of diseases and injuries.
To function as a leader as an Imaging Technologist in the field of diagnostic imaging; specifically OR imaging . To facilitate and coordinate patient care; delivery and effective communication within the medical center dedicated to the care of infants; children; adolescents and those with childhood conditions. Work closely with team members of the Radiology Department and other collaborating departments; specifically Surgery; throughout the hospital. Provide guidance and training to technologists on OR imaging processes and assist manager with process improvement. May serve as Preceptor to new staff.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Patient Care - Procedures and Exams
Prepare patients and/or families for imaging procedures and examinations. Conduct procedures/examinations following protocols/guidelines as directed. May obtain, review, bring together, and/or facilitate the exchange of patient information. Is considered an expert at specialized exams, such as complex surgical and fluoroscopy procedures. Anticipate and able to respond to the needs of the patient by utilizing broad knowledge base and expertise. Recognize pathology that requires additional imaging to provide results; relay abnormal anatomy to Radiologist.
OR Imaging
Facilite OR imaging schedule and assign appropriate equipment. Perform imaging for complex OR procedures requiring specialized training and/or extensive knowledge. Coordinate maintenance of OR imaging equipment. Act as super-user of various OR imaging equipment, responsible for training non-OR techs on use of equipment. Act as a resource for surgical staff and non-OR techs for questions and concerns related to OR imaging. Maintain all required competencies in other imaging areas.
Customer Service and Communication
Act as a customer advocate and strive to better meet the needs of, and to support, patients and/or families. Utilize a customer focus to complete assignments and/or interact with customers in a courteous, attentive and conscientious manner. Respond quickly to parent requests and concerns using problem solving skills to resolve situations. Provide appropriate education/information to patients and/or families. Communicate with patients, families and employees in courteous manner. Respond promptly to requests by patients, families and employees. May provide information concerning patients that are admitted, referred, transferred, or discharged. Provide emotional support to families as needed. Utilizes effective communication techniques to identify problems. Work toward creative solutions with help of manager.
Serve as a Resource
Demonstrate advanced competence in specific knowledge and skills related to OR imaging. Effectively communicate with team members and contribute to their growth by sharing knowledge, experience, and skills; stay abreast of changes in key systems; serve as an expert resource to the department and/or hospital in OR imaging. Educate and orient by teaching peers, students, residents and fellows the skills necessary to independently perform radiography exams, specifically OR imaging. Provide evaluative feedback to manager throughout training process. Consistently report and document equipment malfunctions making necessary adjustments or repairs as able. Provide additional support to facilitate patient care in such situations.
Process Improvement
Identify, lead, and direct process/quality improvement/assurance activities relevant to OR imaging. Measure and present results of improvement efforts and ongoing performance measures of processes. In collaboration with appropriate individuals, develop strategic plans for improvement. May manage activities such as training and audits which support process improvement initiatives/activities. May participate on process improvement team(s).
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
• Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent
• 3 years of work experience in Interventional Radiology or Operating Room Imaging
• ARRT(R) Registration
• Licensed by Ohio Department of Health
Preferred:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field
