Job Summary
Under immediate direction and in compliance with straightforward and standardized policies and procedures, as assigned on a rotating basis, functions in the role of ticket booth attendant, retail attendant, giraffe feeding attendant, birthday party host or concession attendant at the City of Greenville Zoo. Provides outstanding customer service to Zoo patrons by answering questions, providing information about Zoo attractions, providing directions, and resolving minor issues; escalates complex issues as needed. Performs shift opening and closing duties including, balancing cash register, taking inventory and restocking supplies. During operating hours: sells and collects/redeems tickets for the Zoo, sells merchandise to customers in person and via phone sales, and prepares and serves food and beverages following City, Department of Health & Environmental Control (DHEC), and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) policies and safety regulations. Assists with birthday parties including the setup, coordination and breakdown. Assists with special projects and events as assigned. Maintains and helps to implement Zoo safety protocols and procedures as required including keeping necessary training and certificates/licenses up to date.

• Perform Customer Service: In assigned area (ticket booth, retail, giraffe feeding, or concessions) provide excellent customer service by greeting patrons, answering questions, providing information about Zoo attractions, providing directions, and resolving minor issues; escalate complex issues as needed. Perform shift opening and closing duties including, balancing cash register, taking inventory and restocking supplies as needed. Operate cash register and receive payments from Zoo patrons in cash or credit card; accurately count and provide change when applicable. When assigned to ticket booth, sell and collect tickets for the City of Greenville Zoo. When assigned to the Giraffe Deck, collect and prepare the necessary materials for the experience, interact with guests in a positive and uplifting manner, and monitor and correct guest behavior as needed. When assigned to retail, sell merchandise to customers in person and via phone sales; restock, arrange, and straighten displays, process incoming shipments of products; package and ship orders as needed; conduct inventory. When assigned to concessions stand, prepare and serve food and beverages in accordance with City and DHEC policies and safety regulations; handle alcoholic beverages according to SLED policies; bus and sanitize the tables and dining area of the concession stand regularly; operate and maintain food and drink machines.

• Maintain Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness of assigned area according to department and DHEC policies and regulations. Clean mobility equipment (e.g., strollers, wheelchairs, and motorized scooters) for rental to customers. Clean and sanitize utensils, countertops, and all food prep areas and machinery using disinfectant cleaning agents (e.g., bleach). Wash hands frequently throughout each shift. Remove expired/unusable perishable items from refrigerators, freezers and other storage areas daily. Ensure clutter-free/safe walkways for patrons by sweeping and mopping each assigned area daily. Maintain clean and attractive seating around the concession area by removing all trash and cleaning trash receptacles as needed, daily.

• Assist with Birthday Parties: Review the calendar for birthdays, prepare the birthday area, and ensure extra stock of paper products are available nearby to bolster guest supply. Assist with the coordination of the party including greeting the host at the gate, assisting with decoration, facilitating the birthday events, and assisting with the packing up of guest birthday items. Clean, sanitize, and reset the area for the next scheduled use.

• Assist with Special Projects & Events: Participate in and assist with special events held by the City of Greenville Zoo during regular operating hours, as well as, after hours as assigned. Set-up and break-down event areas and/or items. Gather, assemble and disseminate promotional products for and during special events.

• Maintain Zoo Safety Protocols: Ensure patron safety by maintaining up-to-date knowledge regarding the City of Greenville Zoo's safety standards, policies, and procedures. Implement appropriate Zoo safety protocols and procedures, including the Greenville Zoo Animal Escape Plan, Lost Child/Adult Procedure, First Aid, and various City policies/SLED policies/procedures accordingly. Attend Zoo and City of Greenville trainings as needed to maintain current knowledge base regarding Zoo/City safety.

Job Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least six (6) months of experience in a customer service related position.
• Alcohol Seller-Server Training is required to be completed within six (6) months of hire.
• First Aid, Child and Adult CPR, and AED certification within one (1) year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience operating a cash register.
Driver's License Requirements
• Valid South Carolina Class D Driver's License.

• Read policies, procedures, papers, periodicals, journals, and manuals.
• Write simple sentences, and/or series of numbers, names, and addresses, and compose emails in a clear and professional manner.
• Operate radio, golf cart, various concession machines, and basic hand tools (screwdriver, box cutter, hammer, broom, mop, etc.).
• Operate general office equipment to include scanner, printer, copier, telephone, and computer with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Utilize specialized software and systems to include point of sale, inventory management, and ticketing system(s) as well as associated equipment.
Working Conditions
Primary Work Location: Concessions, gift shop, and/or ticket booth (Zoo grounds).
Protective Equipment Required: Sanitary gloves and pot holders. Designated PPEs for specific areas and activities within the Zoo.
Environmental/Health And Safety Factors
Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional outside work. Daily exposure to chemical cleaning agents which include bleach products. Weekly exposure to wetness and/or humidity. Monthly exposure to respiratory hazards and verbal insults from customers. Seasonal exposure to extreme temperatures.
Physical Demands
Continuously requires hearing, vision, and talking. Frequently requires carrying, fine dexterity, handling, lifting boxes of supplies, pushing/pulling, reaching, and twisting. Occasionally requires bending, climbing, crouching/stooping, kneeling, and walking on uneven surfaces and up/down hills. Medium strength demands include exerting up to 10 pounds constantly, up to 20 pounds frequently, and 20-50 pounds occasionally.
Mental Demands
Constantly requires working closely with others as part of a team. Frequently requires working in a noisy/distracting environment. Occasionally requires time pressures and frequent change of tasks.
