We're looking to add experienced veterinary nurses to our urgent care family as we continue to grow. Veterinary Technician at VetCheck Pet Urgent Care Center responsibilities:
• Assist the doctor with physical examinations; obtain a detailed history on each patient.
• Triage patients effectively to ensure the stability of each animal.
• Assist the doctors with medical, surgical and dental procedures; including monitoring patients while under anesthetics.
• Able to provide emergency nursing care to stabilize an incoming patient.
• Successfully draw blood from the cephalic and jugular veins.
• Perform clinical lab procedures in house, such as: fecal flotation, heartworm tests, skin scraping, uranalysis, fungal cultures and bloodwork.
• Understands usage and dosage for all prescription drugs and can readily explain them to clients.
• Capable of placing an intravenous catheter for hospitalization, medication administration or euthanasia purposes.
• Able to administer injectable medications to dogs and cats through IV, IM, or subcutaneous means.
• Maintain a positive, cooperative relationship with staff members. We truly are a family here at VetCheck!
