The Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Division is looking to add a Community Prevention Lead to their growing team! This position will be responsible for planning, establishing, and coordinating drug overdose prevention efforts in partnership with communities experience disparate rates of substance use disorder and overdose, including but not limited to Black/African American communities.
Primary Job Duties
• Co-lead technical assistance, consultation, and communication to outside agencies and organizations across Minnesota, pertaining to overdose prevention strategies.
• Engage and strengthen partnerships with a variety of communities.
• Advance state goals and objectives for the prevention of drug overdose and the decrease in overdose disparities.
• Testify as a technical expert before legislative committees, educational institutes and other public forums.
• Support efforts to advance and integrate drug overdose prevention withing the Minnesota Department of Health and among State partners.
• Act with a high degree of autonomy, with the ability to synthesize new information and make decisions on program and policy action in the field.
Minimum Qualifications
The following minimum qualifications must be clearly demonstrated on the applicant’s resume/application to be considered for this position.
Three (3) Years Of Working Experience In The Following
• Application of community health promotion strategies and methods while working effectively with diverse communities.
• Use of substance abuse prevention concepts and methods and/or use of public health education and promotion principles
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with community organizations and collaboratives.
• Program administration; monitoring and reporting program activities, performance, and budget.
Preferred Qualifications
• Ability to understand and evaluate quantitative and qualitative information, research papers and technical reports.
• Working collaboratively to set program goals, objectives, and monitor program budgets.
• Designing and implementing community-based health promotion and educational programs.
• Experience using different social marketing techniques.
• Experience presenting information as a technical expert before legislative committees, education institutes and other public forums.
• Knowledge of state grant-making requirements and regulations
Additional Requirements
The candidate selected for this position will be required to successfully pass a background check and employment reference check. There is travel associated with this position and the candidate will be responsible for transportation.
