The Residential Life Director exists to lead, direct, and manage campus housing across the entire university. This includes all aspects of Minnesota State University‘s residential life program encompassing five building complexes (four owned and one master-leased), 3000 students, and a budget in excess of $27M. The incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and managing the residential life staff.
The incumbent will provide a living and learning environment that supports the academic and personal development and success of students, providing leadership and direction of administrative functions including short and long-range financial planning and routine budget management, providing leadership and direction for facilities functions including repair, maintenance and new construction, providing leadership and direction for staff hiring, training and supervision, and serving as meal plan liaison to the university‘s food service provider. Additionally, the director collaborates with other departments within the Division of Student Affairs and the University and represents the department to external constituencies.
The incumbent will provide expertise and consultation to resolve complex issues. Additionally, the incumbent will provide training and development expertise and consultation surrounding leading practices to be infused within all housing operations.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Student Personnel, Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related field.
• Five (5) years of progressive leadership experience that includes supervision, budgetdevelopment, and operations management.
• University Residential Life or related Student Affairs experience.
• Ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels, from frontline staff to systemwideexecutives.
• Other special requirements: Demonstrated competence/experience in supervision,administration, budget development, programming, long-range planning and operationsmanagement.
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
• Full-time experience working in a residential life program in a leadership role.
• Supervision experience with professional, support and student staff members with a broad rangeof skills, knowledge, and abilities.
• An understanding of student development needs and issues related to administering aresidential life program including: student and community development, cultural diversity,academic support programs, student judicial systems administration, residence hall studentgovernance, crisis intervention and management, program assessment, and mediation &resolution of student and parent conflicts.
• Annual and long-range planning.
• Knowledge of university food service contract administration.
• Excellent organizational skills including ability to prioritize and manage multiple & competingpriorities.

Occassional evening and weekend hours.
