Description:
Process Science Modeling and Data (PSMD) is recruiting for a Process Modeling Post Doc, located in primarily in Geel, Belgium but also open to Beerse, Latina, Italy, Schaffhausen and Titusville, New Jersey, USA.
The PSMD group is with the Johnson and Johnson Innovative Medicine Manufacturing Science And Technology (MSAT) organization under the Innovation & Technology Deployment (ITD) arm. We focus on integrating innovative modeling technologies to the manufacturing operations of a diverse portfolio of pharmaceutical products (from active ingredients to finished drug products). We develop, deploy, and sustain process data and modeling tools to achieve key business objectives such as meeting key product quality attributes, reducing cost and cycle times, and de-risking operations, among others. The successful candidate will join our multi-disciplinary team and will be directly involved in research focused on the digitalization of process modeling technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
You will contribute to our ongoing projects in the digitalization area, developing first principle inspired process models of our key manufacturing steps such as solvent switch, reaction and crystallization. Development and deployment of this capability will increase our understanding of operation parameters, process risks and resource consumption.
Typical day to day activities for this position can include:
• Searching multiple data source to fully understand the manufacturing process.
• Develop fit-for-purpose models of manufacturing processes in gPROMS
• Integrating skills from data science, statistics, and engineering to streamline the model building process.
• Develop models as web applications as well as closed-loop control implementation at our various sites
• Communicate with local and global partners to gather support and report results.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
Education:
• Doctorate degree in Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or other related fields required
Experience and Skills:
Required:
• Must have completed the doctorate degree program by the time of start
• Experience with mechanistic process modeling of various chemical unit operations such as distillation, reaction, crystallization, and/or particle tuning in gPROMS, Dynochem, and/or ASPEN
• Self-starter that can work independently under general directions, with proven problem-solving skills and can exhibit an attention to detail
Preferred:
• Have strong communication skills (written and verbal), including experience presenting in front of multidisciplinary audiences, and attending team meeting in hybrid format
• Experiences with pharmaceutical, especially small molecule, processes
Other:
• 10% Travel percentage depending on base site location
