Under the direction of the Associate Vice President of University Marketing and Communications (AVP University Mar-Comm), the Director of Web Marketing is responsible for executing a comprehensive, owned media strategy to support the University’s brand position and to advance its mission, vision and strategic goals.
The Director of Web Marketing is a critical university marketing and communications position, as it directs, manages and creates university-wide online marketing content and campaigns, including: oversight of the primary university website created to inspire and engage priority, external audiences, university social media and other marketing accounts, and university digital marketing campaigns designed by senior leadership and stakeholders invested in paid media for university strategic goals.
This position will co-design and oversee website design governance and processes, guiding standard actions for improved website user experience and audience impact, ensuring website publishing best practices are executed, and promoting a consistent voice and tone across the website and other digital communications channels.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in web/interactive design, technical communication, marketing, communications, mass communications, or closely related field.
• Experience as a director, team lead, lead worker, or project lead.
• Three years of full-time, professional work experience in communications, marketing, usercentered design, or closely related field.
• At least two years of experience implementing an integrated strategic communications plan, with demonstrated effectiveness in website planning and new media marketing.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically about integrated web and online marketing concepts and practices.
• Working knowledge of web language and layout (ie, HTML, CSS, and web image optimization, ADA compliance, SEO)
• Experience working complex governance within a large company or institution.
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
• Master’s degree in marketing, communications, web/interactive design, technology
• communications, or closely related field.
• Knowledge of online user-experience and strategic marketing concepts and practice.
• Team player with experience in collaborative working environments.
• Excellent written skills and management of digital copywriters.
• Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Persuasive and empowering leadership skills.
• Experience with promoting and creating policies and procedures for marketing and communications.
• Experience leading comprehensive website re-design projects.
Additional Requirements
This position require a valid, applicable driver’s license, as well as DVS records check with an acceptable rating.
