Position Purpose: Responsible for understanding, explaining, and educating external Contractors and Construction Equipment Workers on the technical performance attributes of construction, contracting, and installation equipment for Underground Cable for Utilities.
Position Summary: To explain the company’s technical product specifications for construction/contracting tools and equipment (e.g., UG Pullers, Trailers, Fiber Optic Installation Equipment, and Pneumatic Blowers) to the customers and advise them on purchasing decisions, close opportunities, and fill the pipeline with new opportunities. To conduct thorough market research and analyze competitor offerings. To gather customer feedback and manage and grow the sales territories. To have excellent technical skills, selling skills and the ability to conduct in-depth product demonstrations. To remain up to date with the company’s products, services, and latest industry trends.
Essential Duties
• Preparing and developing technical presentations with equipment in the field to explain our company’s products or services to customers. Presentations will predominantly be in person, face to face with customers.
• Discussing equipment needs and system requirements with customers and engineers
• Collaborating with sales personnel to understand customer requirements and provide sales support
• Generating high-quality sales leads, following up after initial contact, securing and renewing orders, negotiating prices, completing sales, and arranging deliveries
• Researching, developing, and defining products to meet customers’ technical requirements and needs
• Helping Customers who have problems with installed products and recommending improved or upgraded materials and machinery
• Soliciting and logging client feedback and evaluating the data to create new sales and marketing strategies to target customers into Salesforce.com
• Identifying areas for improvement and communicating these issues as well as possible solutions to upper management and product management.
• Setting and achieving sales goals and quotas
• Training other members of the sales team on the technical aspects of the company’s products and services
• Memorizing technical product specifications and keeping up to date with new company products as well as industry trends
• Attending conferences, lectures, seminars, and workshops to improve your skills and knowledge
• Conducting market research and competitor research and obtaining feedback from clients to improve existing products
• Participating in conferences, workshops, and networking sessions
• Writing reports and liaising with the product management team regarding issues, foreseeable problems, and effective solutions
• Simplifying technical terms during product demonstrations and post-sales customer support
• Maintaining strong professional relationships with existing clients and meeting with new clients to expand sales territories
• Updating orders and sales and negotiating the best company contract terms
• Listening to customers’ needs and advising them on the best products to buy
• Travel up to 75%, it is imperative this Technical Salesperson be in the market, in front of customers providing demonstrations, training and support to end users, distributors and manufacturer representatives.

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, marketing, business administration, or a 2-year technical certificate/degree is desired.
• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sales with heavy equipment, construction, cable, and power utilities contracting, is desired.
• Prior experience and knowledge with product specifications for construction/contracting tools and equipment (e.g., UG Pullers, Trailers, Fiber Optic Installation Equipment, and Pneumatic Blowers) is desired.
• Strong customer service, analytical, and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational, research and multitasking abilities
• Strong negotiating and problem-solving skills
• Able to understand and speak English fluently (required)
• Able to Understand and speak Spanish fluently (desirable)
• A professional experience
• A valid driver’s license
• Able to be approved to secure DOT approval to drive company vehicles.
Physical Demands
• Must be able to stand, walk, sit, kneel, twist, stoop, crawl, climb and bend
• Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time and work on a computer
• Ability to talk on a phone for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times
