Regional Environment Health Safety Specialist
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Environmental Health, Safety, and Security, the Regional Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for developing and coordinating the implementation of all EHS Programs across the Wis-Pak manufacturing sites in accordance with corporate policies to maintain compliance with all OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations. These include but not limited to Powered Industrial Trucks, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, HAZCOM, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Machine Guarding, Ergonomics, Emergency Action Plan, Bloodborne Pathogen, Hazardous Waste, SARA, CWA, CAA, SPCC, RMP and PSM program. Keep abreast of all OSHA, EPA, DOT, NIOSH, NFPA and other regulatory requirements relative to Wis-Pak/WP Beverages facilities. The Regional EHS Specialist will coordinate an auditing program to ensure the sites maintain compliance with all applicable environmental health and safety regulations; assists with workers comp and accident investigation; provide technical assistance to the Site EHS Specialist; support the completion of permit renewals, monthly, quarterly, and annual regulatory reporting.
JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Engage, communicate, and influence others across the region to develop a culture of safety, sustainability, and environmental excellence, impact reduction and continuous improvement.
• Monitor and maintain EHS Compliance across the sites.
• Ensure sites complete all EHS Reporting requirements to include but not limited too; 300 hundred log, hazardous waste, Tier II, stormwater, and wastewater reporting.
• Implement and manage an EHS&S auditing process to assess regulatory compliance, identify deficiencies, and ensure collaboration across all Wis-Pak Sites to proactively resolve gaps and identify action plans.
• Develop and maintain an incident sharing and lessons learned program to include the implementation of corrective actions across all Wis-Pak Sites.
• Interact with all employees in a cooperative and effective manner.
• Ensure accuracy and legal compliance of all EHS programs, maintain all necessary documents, and perform necessary analysis to make viable suggestions for improvements in the current programs or systems.
• Assist in Conducting thorough and effective incident investigations to include root cause analysis, providing recommendations for solutions and prevention of future accidents.
• Coordinate with Director of Environmental Health, Safety, and Security and Engineering Director on all design and construction of new equipment, facilities and processes to ensure safe and ergonomically sound working environments.
• Assist in the development of EHS training programs.
• Maintain up to date knowledge on all safety Department of Transportation (DOT) and environmental laws and regulations.
• Ensure all safety equipment and first aid supplies are standardized throughout all the sites.
• Report monthly EHSS metrics to corporate as required.
• Support, organize, present and participate in Annual EHS Team Meetings.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in a field of Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or related technical discipline that provides the preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position
• Three (3) to five (5) years of hands-on professional Environmental Health Safety and Security experience supporting multiple sites REQUIRED
• Working knowledge and effective ability to develop training programs on safety codes, OSHA regulations, EPA, health regulations, hazardous material, and emergency preparedness
• Knowledgeable in the applications of government regulations
• Must be able to coordinate and respond to local, state, and federal regulatory agencies across multiple states
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Must have very strong organizational and communication skills
• A high degree of confidentiality, efficiency, and professionalism
• Able to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment as a highly motivated self-starter, able to work autonomously or in a group setting
• Ability to focus on multiple projects while meeting deadlines
• Ability to work off shifts as needed
• Must be able to travel a minimum of 50% of the time
