The Buyer has primary responsibility for building and maintaining relationships via phone, fax and e-mail with component vendors and suppliers. Coordinates purchasing and delivery schedule of vendor supplied components with appropriate departments and personnel. Source and buy product to fill requirements.
Responsibilities And Essential Job Functions
• Qualify and develop new suppliers.
• Manage, maintain, and grow existing supplier base by developing long-term, professional relationships with key vendors.
• Qualify vendor's product offerings to verify exact part numbers, accurate delivery date, and best price.
• Negotiate and buy parts in a timely and expeditious manner.
• Product research as required.
• Communication and problem solving
• Manage parts orders to meet project / forecast / Theory Of Constraint requirements and communicate status to supply chain via established reporting methods.
Job Requirements And Standards
• Accurate and professional verbal and written communications
• Keeping business records, utilizing computers, accurate filling systems, customer and personal service
• Proficient use of computers, software, ie. Microsoft, office (word, excel and outlook)
• Complete vendor score cards
• S & OP meetings
• Follow company and department standard procedures
Education/Experience
• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Purchasing Management or other applicable degree
• 2+ Years Experience is desired
OR
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be acceptable.
