Description
With general guidance, provides maintenance leadership, staff supervision, and technical expertise in support of manufacturing equipment/systems and/or production suites, ensures systems operate within designed parameters. The Process Maintenance Manager oversees a team of maintenance specialist/technicians.Primary focus relates to process systems such as lyophilizers, bioreactors/fermenters, filling lines, packaging lines, etc. Experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical industry operating under cGMP preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities
Group Leader, Maintenance
• Lead all assigned maintenance personnel and contractors in assuring all requirements of their assignments and responsibility are clearly communicated and understood.
• Foster an attitude of teamwork, compliance, quality, safety and productivity.
• Take prompt action to remediate employee performance issues while recognizing and rewarding positive results and performance.
• Provide leadership and hands-on action for emergency response to process and facility issues.
• Notify maintenance and production process personnel as directed to assure timely communication and response.
• Identify training needs and provide training opportunities.
• Provide hands-on on-the-job training to technicians.
• Work with Reliability Engineering and Process Engineering to improve reliability and performance of production process equipment and utility equipment.
• Timely review of completed work orders verifying timely and detailed documentation.
• Verify work is following departmental work flows.
Manager, Process Maintenance
• Support the development of a Maintenance Vision, Mission, Strategies, and Goals that provides a guide to becoming the best maintenance organization
• Develop maintenance metrics to support the benchmarking of site, global, and industry. Develop improvement strategies based off the benchmarking data
• Manage the maintenance department that provides technical, project, emergency response, trouble shooting and preventative maintenance support for facilities and related equipment
• Support consistent global maintenance and operational practices throughout sites
• Function as a technical expert to equipment or systems regarding troubleshooting operational issues and point of contact during compliance inspections. Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems
• Develop, maintain, and justify the department budgets
• Assure the appropriate level of cGMP training for all levels of the maintenance organization and maintain records for staff
• Oversee the development, revision, review, and approval of Standard Operating Procedures/Job Plans that are owned by the maintenance department
• Support project engineering in the justification, prioritization, and coordination of manufacturing projects. Provide design assistance, as required, using knowledge of both the operations and facilities capabilities and the knowledge of production requirements
• Partner with Compliance and Quality Assurance Departments to ensure maintenance operational strategies are in alliance with our compliance commitments
• Maintain an environment that promotes maintenance flexibility, consistent maintenance practices, and efficient operations, which prepare us for current and future production demands
• Demonstrate a visible & tangible commitment to EHS, Lean Principles, and the BI Values in all work related activities.
• In addition to the above, other assigned duties & projects deemed appropriate within the position scope
• Work in accordance to the Athens Site policies and procedures and ensure their compliance.
• Functional, product and systems knowledge.
Group Leader, Maintenance Requirments
• Minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in a maintenance related field including proven skills in the leadership of maintenance personnel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Advanced knowledge and working experience of autoclaves, lyophilizers, WFI stills, clean-in-place skids, fermentors/ bioreactors, aseptic filling equipment, chillers, air handlers, freezers, coolers, cooling towers, and electrical distribution equipment.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) certification preferred.
• Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification preferred.
Manager, Process Maintenance Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or combination of education and/or years of experience
• Military, corporate or technical training acceptable substitution for formal education
• 10+ years of experience in maintenance position
• Five plus (5+) years of supervisory experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical industry operating under cGMP
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) certification preferred.
• Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification preferred.
Eligibility Requirements
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
• Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
• Must be 18 years of age or older
