Job Responsibilities
• Organizes, plans, and directs the purchase, preparation and service of food and the maintenance of food service equipment and facilities.
• Makes frequent inspections to ensure that standards are maintained; plans or reviews menus to ensure a balanced diet within established cost standards.
• Establishes work schedules and training programs; supervises, instructs, and counsels employees.
• Coordinates and teaches correct techniques of food preparation for maximum palatability and appearance with minimum waste.
• Cafeteria equipment.
• Acts as correctional officer in maintaining internal security of cafeteria.
• Performs other related duties.
• Statewide traveling is required.
Must successfully complete four (4) week SCDC basic training upon hire.

Minimum And Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
Related supervisory experience in food service
SCDC Minimum Requirements
(Or an approved equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).
• High school diploma and five (5) years’ experience in quantity and quality cooking and one (1) year of supervisory experience.
• Three (3) years’ experience in a correctional environment preferred.
• Must be certified in hazard analysis & critical control point (HACCP) or Servsafe manager or attain within six (6) months of employment.
• Must be certified by South Carolina Department of Corrections Training Academy or must successfully complete SCDC basic training upon hire.
• Must successfully complete basic supervisory course within eighteen (18) months of employment.
