Position Summary:
Sovah Health in Martinsville, VA. is seeking a Full-Time Central Sterile Process Technician to join our 2nd Shift Team (10:00am – 6:30pm Monday - Friday with on call and weekend availability).
The CSP Tech. will:
· Collect, decontaminate, store, and distribute all reusable supplies and patient care equipment in the hospital.
· Provide inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
· Operate departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.
· Provide customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient’s need.
· Process and document all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
· Monitor and perform antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.
· Enters patient charges and orders into computer system.
· Able to problem solve to enhance the effectiveness of teamwork.
· Conducts biological monitoring and interprets results.
· Possess knowledge of the operations of steam and ETO sterilizers.
· Washes and decontaminates instruments and equipment from units throughout hospital
· Transport instruments and supplies to units
· Removes equipment and supplies not in use; cleans equipment and returns to appropriate location for storage.
· Utilizes standard precautions for infection control, i.e., handwashing, body substance isolation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Education
· High school graduate or equivalent required.
· Certification as registered central service technician required within one year of employment.

• Typical Physical Demands:
• Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients and./or equipment, manual and finger dexterity, and eye hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
• May require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• May require frequent bending, squatting, and kneeling.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours.
• Potential for exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Certifications
· Certification as registered central service technician required within one year of employment.
Minimum Work Experience
• Previous experience in the central sterile supply setting desirable.
• Requirements will include successful completion of orientation program and competency requirements.
