Description The City of Roanoke is seeking a Relief Counselor I to monitor a caseload of juvenile offenders who have been court ordered to comply with the Outreach Detention Program. The incumbent exercises independent judgment and initiative in the day-to-day monitoring of the assigned caseload, demonstrating a thorough familiarity with agency functions and basic knowledge of community resources. Maintains documentation of all contacts with clients and all other professionals involved. Receives general supervision and guidance from the Outreach Detention Coordinator.  Weekend and holiday work is required. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months to one year related experience and/or training in human development; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of all requirements as prescribed by State regulations (i.e. CPR, first aid, restraint and substance abuse certification). Possession of a valid VA state drivers license. Must clear all criminal background investigations (State Police, CPS, FBI fingerprint).
