Job Description
Location/Department: Oncology
Working in conjunction with the physicians, the Oncology Nurse Navigator is responsible for assisting in guidance and coordination of oncology patients and their caregivers through the continuum of care. Responsible for the development and assimilation of oncology educational materials for patients and their families as defined by the oncology care team. The Nurse Navigator will serve as a knowledgeable individual who will afford patients convenience access to needed cancer program services such as education, coordination of care, support services and act as a liaison throughout the patient care experience.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent majoring in Nursing.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the State of Indiana.
Three years of experience is required.
Skills needed for this position: Three or more years of acute clinical experience with oncology experience preferred. Must be a BSN or be willing to start a BSN program within one year of employment. Must become OCN certified. Must become chemotherapy certified within six months of hire. Must be self-directed, be able to organize and complete several simultaneous tasks.
