POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Childcare Director, counselors will carry out duties necessary to the daily function of the program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Ensure the guidance and safety of all campers.
2. Must help with the opening of the Camp, working at least 4 hours.
3. Plans and leads activities with the group as indicated on the camp schedule.
4. Assist the Camp Director in conducting the daily program schedule of camp.
5. Cares for and maintains camp equipment and property
6. Maintain a positive relationship with campers, parents, and other staff members.
7. Participates in and assist with all programing efforts. (Fun Fridays and All Camp Field Trips)
8. Attempts to answer parents’ concerns or make appropriate referrals to the Childcare Director.
9. Swim with campers when necessary (if 8 or more of your campers are swimming)
10. Assist Childcare Director and take leadership role if needed.
11. Be a strong role model for the campers.
12. Participate in ALL trainings.
13. Participate in any special camp events.
14. Must work the entire camp season.
15. Wear camp T-shirt daily and dress appropriately.
16. Understand all YMCA policies and procedures.
17. All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
• Two to three years related experience preferred.
• Minimum age requirement of 21.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Able to demands the physical demands of the instructors class and possibly in others respective classes in order to serve as a substitute when needed.
• Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper exercise form.
• Ability to lift the equipment required for that particular class.
• Ability to successfully conduct a group exercise class while offering modifications and communicating to the class while teaching.
