Purpose and Responsibility of the Position:
Responsible for the operation of the press line on day to day basis on assigned shift to the production schedule.
The Press Production Team Leader is responsible to ensure that the Customer, People, and Investor goals are balanced and met.
Essential Functions of the Position:
• Gives directions and align associates on the shift to ensure they stay fully utilized. Be certain that the Press schedule is being met and notify appropriate persons if there is a problem.
• Organizes and coordinates the activities of employees to ensure that productions and/or repairs conform to quality standards outlined by the company and/or customer requirements
• Responsible for completion of all applicable paper work and computer inputs – Shift summary sheet, Down time system, Lot Traceability sheet, Crane check sheet, Destacker set-up sheet, Die set sheet, LPA, Layered Process sheet, QID sheet, etc.
• Manpower alignment to schedule and organize break rotation incl. filling in for Associates that are out
• Assist Supervisors with tracking of attendance, vacation, overtime and performance appraisal issues
• Train associates and ensure work instructions are being followed by all Associates on the line.
• Recommend to supervisors when corrective action is needed
• Responsible for Press line set up to achieve maximum efficiency
• Maintain product quality and integrity (check one part per hour minimum)
• Maintain Press 5S standards
• Hold brief meeting prior to shift start up to communicate with Associates and concerns or issues (Production run, changeovers, next job, special projects, rework, quality concerns, and line change assignments, Shift report, & pass down)
• Inventory control: Check inventory before and after the production run and end of shift. Reconcile and maintain SAP
• Responsible for quality of ALL parts produced
• Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in safe manner
• Assist in plant support, troubleshooting, repairs and system improvements
• Perform other duties as required
Position Requirements:
Communication Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees, and members of management at levels of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
Manufacturing Environment:
• 90% Standing and Walking, 10% Lifting up to 50 lbs.
Education and/or Experience
Required:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• 1 year prior metal working and press experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good mathematical, analytical and organizational skills
• Able to work in various locations within and outside the plant
Preferred:
• Six months to one year experience as press operator
• SAP knowledge
• Tool and Die, Electrician or millwright Certificate of qualification
Developmental:
• Will strive to successfully complete Developmental Team Lead training in an agreed upon time frame
Areas of Training Required:
Must have New Hire Orientation, Safety, and Understanding of the Charter prior to or within the first two weeks of assuming the role.

The Team Member’s job progress will be monitored for competency by performance assessments conducted by Supervisor and/or Department Manager.
