Registered Nurse Clinical Coordinator, Full-time, Air Care & Mobile Care Communication Center
UC Health is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to work full-time as a Clinical Coordinator in our Air Care & Mobile Care Communication Center.
The RN Clinical Coordinator is the clinical leader in the communications center who triages patients to the correct level of medical transport care, assists with quality improvement measures, plans day-to-day staffing, coordinates daily resources, and assists with a variety of short and long-term projects. The Clinical Coordinator works collaboratively with others to deliver the safest and highest quality patient and family-centered care possible during transport. They work within the standards of governing and regulatory bodies for medical transport.

Responsibilities:
Clinical Practitioner
• Coordinates the level of transport care provider; BLS, ALS, MICU, Air.
• Collaborates with referring and receiving care providers and transport team to encourage safe and appropriate resource utilization for the individual patient.
• Provides clinical leadership for the communication specialists in coordinating ground and air transports
• Collaborates with communication specialists
• Works as a clinical resource for transport crew members and referring care providers
• Communicates appropriate patient information in a professional manner
• Respects patients' rights to privacy
• Documents all clinical information per department standards
• Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other health care providers to ensure that the patient's unique transport needs are met
• Follows the department and hospital policies, procedures, and standards for patient care and operations
• Maintains computerized database of all transport requests and other data as directed
• Actively participates in department quality assurance and review
• Maintains all clinical competencies required
Operational Practitioner
• Reports to work on time and leaves on time, unless directed otherwise or situation-specific additional resources are needed
• Assumes responsibility for self and communications center while on shift with respect to operational decision-making
• Collaborates with and communicates frequently with department leadership as operational needs change throughout the days
• Collaborates with the department's leadership team to ensure that adequate and appropriate staffing for the transport teams is met. Includes reviewing current schedules to help secure adequate staff coverage of any open shifts and informing leadership of all staff changes.
• Attains a useful understanding of ground and aviation operations
• Maintains at least the minimum requirement for meeting attendance and education
• Reads email every shift and responds to emails as appropriate
• Completes projects and special projects as assigned
• Maintains scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of the department to cover sick call-offs, vacation/PTO, open positions, and other needs
• Demonstrates knowledge and acceptance of department Mission, Vision, and Values
• Takes initiative to obtain information related to department operations by, but not limited to: attending meetings, reviewing meeting minutes, and reading department-generated communication in a timely manner.
Professional Growth
• Remains current and active in the profession of nursing and the medical transport industry
• Completes clinical rotations or operational experience as assigned and by the completion due date
• Remains current in job-specific licensures, certifications, and competencies
• Develops and maintains flexibility with changing department requirements, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines
• Explores, accepts, and implements new industry standards for safety, clinical care, and operational efficiency in coordination with leadership
• Willingly explores as well as accepts and implements new industry standards in order to strive for higher quality outcomes and improved efficiency
• Contributes to the growth of pers by sharing own knowledge, experience, and skills
• Educates healthcare professionals and other customers regarding the operation of the transport program (includes orienting new associates as assigned)
Safety
• Maintains a safe, clean, well-organized work area in the communications center and encourages and directs other staff to do the same
• Conducts operations in a safe manner
• Takes the safety of the transport crews and patients as the primary concern for each transport
• Reads and maintains useable knowledge of department policies, procedures, and guidelines related to safety, including vehicle operations, emergency procedures, bariatric transport, etc.
• Never sidesteps safety to get a transport completed
• Never puts any of the department values above safety, including financial sustainability
Customer Service
• Knows, practices, and demonstrates the Core RITE values at all times while at work or while representing any part of UC Health internally or to the public, including, but not limited to: conversation, email, texting, social media, and personal presentation
• Works to support service excellence in Patient and Family Centered Care
• Provides excellent customer service to people and organizations requesting coordination of patient transport
• Thinks and acts creatively to meet the individual needs of patients and families
• Provides excellent customer service to coworkers through complete and efficient communications
• Initiates and participates in customer service initiatives, marketing, and customer outreach efforts for the program, hospital, and industry
Qualifications:
• ASN required, BSN preferred.
• Current OH nursing license required.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS
• Clinical proficiency relevant to specific clinical area.
• 3-5 years experience minimum.
• EMS experience preferred.
