Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery is a showcase for local farmers and food artisans. This is a fun and fast-paced environment focused on serving delicious food with fresh seasonal and local ingredients. Under guidance from the Front of House Manager, the Front of House Assistant Manager is responsible for meeting and exceeding guests’ expectations with exceptional food and service, keeping up employee morale and work ethic, overall cleanliness of the business, and increasing sales through customer experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
●Directly responsible for leading FOH cashiers, cleaners, and FOH Leads towards providing the most pleasant, happy, and fun experience for our customers
●Supports customer service training of employees, including EBT sales
●Capable of performing the Cashier and Swamp Cleaner positions to properly supervise all of those functions and crossed trained on stockist and expos positions to assist in those areas
●Supports the FOH Manager in tracking and reducing mistakes at the register
●Responsible for managing customer service needs including responding quickly to square feedback and in-person/email/calls, correcting any issues with the customer and passing along praise to employees
●Helps manage and track labor by writing effective schedules, allocating hours scheduled to most necessary tasks, sending staff home when slow and tracking/approving time sheets
●Responsible for increasing sales through managing restocking of outside displays and grab and go items and through anticipating customer needs, and other sales promotions
●Helps develop metrics for measuring guest satisfaction and works to improve results
●Manages the outside area to create an inviting, safe community space
●Is the point person for customers - assists with questions, carrying groceries or food, suggests products, goes the extra mile to be welcoming and helpful with any customer need
●Trains all cashier staff in customer service and sales
●Generates fun and excitement through upbeat personality and positive attitude to help ensure a good work environment and customer experience
●Maintains a clean workspace and adheres to all SCDHEC food safety requirements and has knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
●Performs calmly and effectively in a fast-paced work environment
●Treats customers and co-workers with courtesy and respect
●Makes eye contact and greets customers enthusiastically
●Assists customers with menu questions and suggestions, and maintaining high customer service at all times
●Communicates regularly with other managers regarding needs, successes, and customer input
●Finds efficient use for downtime and also finds efficient use for Cashier and Cleaner staff during downtime
STANDARD JOB FUNCTIONS
●Approaches issues with the goal to propose solutions, rather than highlight problems
●Identifies whether a problem is system-based or person-based, and works constructively to solve problems accordingly
●Coaches and develops the team to improve customer service, product knowledge, and work efficiency
●Leads by example and provides employees with clear expectations and timely feedback
●Supports and assists in training, scheduling, coverage, assigning breaks, hiring, firing, reviewing, and rewarding for FOH employees
●Follows budget and manages department profitability
●Provides detailed insight to management on overall performance of the department
●Takes initiative to ensure healthy conflict resolution among customers and employees as relevant
●Is a hands-on leader who isn't afraid to get sweaty
●Conducts team member performance reviews
●Works closely and collaboratively with all Swamp Departments
●Establishes and maintains good business and community relations
●Helps us grow, without losing the magic
JOB REQUIREMENTS
●Must be 21 years of age or older
●2+ years’ experience in retail and/or customer service business required
●Experience managing a budget and staff strongly preferred
●Must have a good working knowledge of Google Suite (Drive, Sheets, Docs) and Microsoft Excel
●Requires flexible hours, weekend availability a must, closing shifts end when closing tasks are complete
●Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
●Must agree to background check
●Must have a valid driver’s license and meet the requirements of the Swamp driving policy
●Must communicate through company designated platforms including, but not limited to Slack, Paylocity, Deputy, and/or email
●Must adhere to all SCDHEC food safety requirements including following rules of cooling and storing food properly when applicable
●Is an active part of the Swamp Team so adheres to high standards of service, quality, and presentation
●Takes initiative to help any area of the business if possible

ESSENTIAL SAFETY SKILLS - WORK ENVIRONMENT
SRCG requires that PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety shoes, gloves, etc. be used or worn by employees whenever workplace hazards are discovered that could damage any part of the body to eliminate and/or reduce the hazards employees face in their daily job duties. PPE will not be used as a substitute for safe work practices, machine guards, or other controls. PPE is to be used in conjunction with these controls to increase employee protection.

●Pay based on experience, starting at $18/hr
