Preferences:
• Communication skills need to be excellent- working with students, families, staff and oversee the Health Services
• Flexible- changes  can happen quickly, needs throughout the district can make your responsibilities change
• Skilled at working with multiple things simultaneously and calm in a crisis.  Being a team player is a necessity, but they need to be able to have good leadership qualities to be able to work independently.
• Strong assessment and problem solving skills with experience in working with mental health needs helpful skills- will work closely with the guidance counselors/ school psychologist
• Needs basic computer skills- use google docs along with documenting in the program all use.  Ability to use social media is a plus.
• Responsible and dependable with a strong work ethic
• Hospital experience preferred with school nurse experience is a positive.  CPR trainer a bonus.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Provide health care services to students and faculty.  Monitor and maintain the health and records of students and communicate with parents and staff regarding the students' health.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Valid certificate/license as issued by the Ohio Department of Education
• First Aid training and CPR certification is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborates with other school professionals, parents and health care givers to meet the health, developmental and education needs of the students.
• Establishes and maintains a district wide coordinated school health program.
• Promotes and assists in the design and delivery of health education for students and families.
• Utilizes a systematic approach to problem solving in the school setting and maintains the necessary clinical skills to accomplish objective.
• Collaborates with community members in the delivery of health and social services and serves as a school-community liaison.
• Participates in the formulation of district policies relating to school health plan.
• Supervises student health assessments, maintains school health records and completes all required reports.
• Responds to emergency situations in a professional manner.
• Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
• Adheres to policies, regulations and procedures of the Loveland City School District and comply with building regulations and procedures.
• Maintains the school clinic to assist injured or ill students.
• Provides first aid and assesses the severity of illnesses and injuries.
• Screens kindergarten students for hearing and vision annually and on an as needed basis.
• Screens students for head lice annually and on an as needed basis.
• Maintains all student health cumulative records, emergency medical forms and current immunizations.
• Maintains and monitors administration of all medication.
• Communicates with parents regarding students' illnesses, health concerns and failed screenings.
OTHER INFORMATION ASSOCIATED WITH THIS POSITION
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and administration.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret testing and survey results, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, agencies, teachers or members of the school community.
• Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format.
• Ability to effectively present information to administration, staff, public groups, and/or Board of Education.
• Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.
• Ability to use computers for classroom instruction and record keeping.
• Ability to use a stethoscope, B/P Cuff, light box/vision chart, audiometer and other medical equipment as required by position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May directly supervise health aides.  Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and negotiated agreements. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning and directing work.

Based on training and experience in accordance with the district salary schedule.
