Job Description
The City of Roanoke is seeking a Junior Accountant to prepare and maintain financial records. The successful candidate will reconcile bank accounts periodically, prepare reports for reimbursement of City funds from State and Federal agencies, post receipts and disbursements to major accounts and prepares reports of fees received, supervise and advise subordinate account clerks and clerical personnel on difficult or unusual bookkeeping and accounting problems, and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with a degree in accounting; three to five years related experience and/or training in accounting functions and the use of accounting software applications; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Examples of Duties
SUMMARY
Prepares and maintains financial records.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Reconciles bank accounts periodically
Assists other departments by providing financial information
Prepares reports for reimbursement of City funds from State and Federal agencies
Approves for payment and processes a variety of invoices
Posts receipts and disbursements to major accounts and prepares reports of fees received
Supervises and advises subordinate account clerks and clerical personnel on difficult or unusual bookkeeping and accounting problems
Maintains bookkeeping and control systems
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises an assigned staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Compensation and Hours
Salary Range: $35,097.52 - $70,919.94 Year Benefits Provided: Not Available Other Benefits: Not Available
