Position Summary:
Sovah Health is seeking a full-time Sleep Lab Patient Care Coordinator under the supervision of the Medical Director and the Cardiopulmonary Director to perform functions pertaining to the diagnosis/treatment of sleep disorders, including, but not limited to scoring recores, training new employees, operation of diagnostic equipment, patient education and communication with health care professionals. In addition to those duties delegated by the Cardiopulmonary Director the coordinator will assist in all aspects of planning, organizing and managing the Sleep Lab. Comply with professional standards of conduct, in addition to, applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards as they pertain to the Sleep Lab.
• Confirm insurance verification/authorization requirements and patient financial responsibility.
• Utilize electronic medical records programs.
• Maintain accurate, pertinent, accessible, confidential and secure patient records in accordance with facility privacy and security standards.
• Assure patient records contain documentation of all patient encounters.
• Manage patient outcomes database.
• Provide oversight of other sleep center staff.
• Develop and implement quality assurance/improvement activities and staff training.
Qualifications Minimum Education:
• High School graduate or equivalent.
Typical Physical Demands:
• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing, walking, stooping and stretching. Occasionally lifts, carries and pushes items weighting up to 100 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing of normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and working irregular hours and extended shifts. Requires exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
Required Certifications/Licenses:
• Registered by the Virginia Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist
• Additional Certifications/Licensures in or related to the field are encouraged.
• Current BLS required, ACLS/PALS preferred.
Minimum Work Experience:
• Five years' experience as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist; preferable one year experience in a supervisory position..
