Roanoke County Public Schools is currently seeking 504 Facilitator and Assessment Support positions beginning with the 2023-2024 school year. This position is a 200 day, 7.33 hours per day eligible for benefits on RCPS Pay Plan Grade 120.
Position Description/Job Summary : The Section 504 Facilitator and Assessment Support staff are primarily responsible for the Section 504 eligibility and Section 504 case management processes at assigned schools. Additional responsibilities include administering norm-referenced achievement testing and classroom observations used for both Section 504 and IDEA eligibilities.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following :
• Chairperson for Section 504 eligibility and Section 504 Plan meetings at assigned schools.
• Serve as Section 504 case manager at assigned schools.
• Ensure that all appropriate school staff are provided and are implementing student's Section 504 Plans at assigned schools.
• Support assigned schools with the administration of norm-referenced achievement testing for eligibility purposes.
• Support assigned schools with completing formal classroom observations for eligibility purposes.
• Educate, support, and collaborate with other members of instructional teams who work with students to understand the Administrative Guidelines and Procedures for Section 504.
• Maintain student's Section 504 digital (Synergy) and cumulative records.
• Stay up to date with current instructional and educational trends, methodologies, and materials for working with students with qualifying Section 504 disabilities.
Minimum Job Requirements/Qualifications :
• Bachelor's Degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university, preferred.
• Positive interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to successfully manage and organize multiple teams, paperwork, schedule, and assigned duties.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Section 504 regulatory and procedural guidelines (training will be provided).
• Experience administering norm-referenced achievement testing (training will be provided).
• Ability to objectively observe students in the educational setting and complete a written summary utilizing division adopted paperwork.
