Purpose:
You will provide engineering and design support for the Power Networks Transmission Line Design Group
Responsibilities:
• Perform engineering design activities to successfully complete assigned transmission tasks and projects within budget, per project requirements, and on schedule
• Participate in relevant meetings and follow required checking procedures
• Identify and report changes to project scope
• Assist during procurement, construction and commissioning activities. For example, write requisitions, conduct technical bid evaluations and write purchase orders
• Contribute to appropriate studies, analyses and recommend actions
• Assist with the preparation of detailed designs and drawings, specifications, data sheets, calculations and reports
• Maintain and willing to expand technical expertise and create original designs and develops design guides and standards
• Work in a team-oriented environment with ability to work independently or as part of a group when and as required
• Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in transmission engineering.
• Discuss technical problems and communicate effectively with other project personnel and outside Customers
• Communicate effectively with the engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customers
• Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.
• Ability to travel to job sites to perform site walkdown.
• Other duties as directed by supervisory personnel.
What you will bring
Technical and Industry Experience:
• Experience in transmission line system designs
• Effective technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its Customers.
• A good working knowledge of the fundamental requirements of transmission engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields
• A good working knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory specifications
• A sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements
• Competent use of PLS CADD design software
• Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite
• Ideal candidate should have strong interpersonal and written communication skills that permit working efficiently alongside senior substation engineers and designers in a team setting.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
Required:
• 4 or 5 year bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
Preferred:
• Degree in civil engineering
