Job Description
We are currently hiring for Machine Operators in the Roanoke, VA area. These are time sensitive positions. Starting pay is $15.00 an hour.
Schedule: Night Shift
- 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM - Monday through Thursday.
Basic Function: Sets-up, run, and monitor Cabler/Strander/Rework Line equipment used for the manufacture of fiber optic cable.
Responsibilities include:
- Reads the set-up sheet and utilizes the product code to determine product to be manufactured, machine adjustments, and material requirements.
- Set up, run, and monitor the Planetary Strander for all standard and nonstandard products.
- Set up and run respooling machine located in the cabling area to respool sub cables, fillers and wire.
- Observe, measure, and inspect products at various stages of the production process to assure product is being produced per proper set-up sheet specifications.
- Recognize various defects and problems that arise during production. Assist in solving problems or notifies supervisor if required.
- Run the rework line when the workload at the Strander allows, including washing cables with E Cleaner or MEK, printing cables, stripping cables, respooling cables, wire and fillers and using the stripping wheel to strip armor and FRP cables.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Education: High school diploma
Experience: 6 months related experience and/or training preferred.
Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate a machine in a production environment. Demonstrated ability to use tools and measuring devices properly. Ability to read and follow basic instructions and to understand and implement quality procedures. Math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all documentation. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision. Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and help resolve problems.

Pay Details: $15.00 to $16.00 per hour
