Description The City of Roanoke is seeking a Green Infrastructure Tech to serve in the Department of Public Works. This position performs skilled work in the operation of heavy motorized equipment involved with the maintenance of rights-of-way and in the operation of Ventrac and other commercial mowing equipment for the purpose of maintaining City flood lots, best management practices, and other various facilities as assigned. Performs skilled work in the operation of heavy motorized equipment involved with stormwater construction maintenance projects. Must have ability to operate various heavy and light construction equipment including tractors, mowers, string trimmers, leaf blowers, plate compactors, tillers and more. Services and makes minor repairs and adjustments on equipment. Operates heavy and light equipment in snow removal and assists with special events, and other emergency tasks, including some nights and weekends, as needed. Maintains accurate log sheets, checklists, and pre-trip sheets. Certifications for Registered Technician Pesticide Applicator and Class B CDL with Tanker endorsement are required within 12 months of hire. Completion of other tasks and jobs supporting the division may be assigned. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years related experience and/or training in trades area assigned; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
