The Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown offers 168 beds for nursing home care. Two levels of care are offered: standard care for veterans in need of any intermediate level of care, and memory care for veterans with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.

JOB TITLE JOB DETAILS:
• Starting Hourly Pay: $29.49

• OPERS retirement - The employee contributes 10% of their salary towards their retirement. The employer contributes an amount equal to 14% of the employee’s salary.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Administers & manages entire food service operation for all shifts for Ohio Veterans Home Georgetown (e.g., sanitation, infections control, vendor contract compliance, emergency planning, department of health compliance, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs compliance, safety procedures, etc.).  Supervises frontline supervisors & lower-level food preparation & service staff (e.g., prepares schedules, approves leave request, prepares evaluations, applies progressive discipline, & administers training, interviews, hires, conducts staff meetings, coordinates product testing & participates in menu development).
• Oversees fiscal controls of dietary department (e.g., prepares request to purchase, obtains price quotes, prepares departmental budget).  Maintains necessary records required by nursing home administration policies (e.g., daily census, evaluations, record of diet changes, reports & progress notes) & provides education in proper nutritional follow-up plan by consulting with residents & families.
• Plans & evaluates meals for regular, modified & special diets taking into consideration available foodstuffs, nutritional values & cost involved to ensure compliance with state & federal regulations, treatment plans & accreditation standards.  Visits residents & conducts interviews for dietary history & preferences; counsels’ residents on diets.  Inspects perishable foods for nutritional composition & quality & checks to ensure proper storage & rotation is utilized to preserve food value.
• Consults with Nursing Home Administrator, Dietary Supervisors and Dietetic Tech to establish plans & procedures for dietary program. Instructs food service personnel in basic dietetic principles, trains employees in quality standards, sanitation & storage.  Coordinates & maintains communication between dietary department & medical staff.  Recommends changes in dietetic program as needed.
• ​​​​​​​Oversees ordering of food & supplies from vendors (e.g., paper products, dry goods, frozen food, vegetables, utensils, cookware, sanitation supplies, etc.).  Prepares related records & reports (e.g., sanitation, cycle menus, daily productions sheets, quarterly &/or monthly cost estimates).
• Attends & conducts staff meetings; meets with Dietary Supervisors, dietetic technician to discuss changes &/or modifications; attends committee meetings.  Performs special projects. Ability to collect or extract data in order to make appropriate recommendations. Performs any additional job-related duties as assigned.

C urrent licensure as dietitian as issued by Ohio Board of Dietetics per Section 4759.06 of Revised Code; 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in state & federal guidelines & accreditation standards regarding dietetics/nutrition for agency of employment; 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in employee training & development.
