Position Title Paint Process Development Engineer

Position Description This position is responsible for supporting the Paint Business Unit by coordinating and leading continuous improvement activities within the Paint Process Group and providing technical leadership for the implementation of new and existing paint surface treatment materials, application methods, and process systems. Developing a strategic business plan for implementation and promoting a culture of continuous improvement within cross-functional engineering forums.
Core Responsibilities:
• Comply with all Volvo safety regulations and training for Continuous Improvement of Volvo paint processes
• Prioritize and implement continuous improvement activities within the Paint Business Unit for paint and surface treatment materials, application methods, and process systems
• Develop and maintain a strategic business plan for new or existing paint and surface treatment materials, application methods, and process systems implementations
• Support process technicians and engineers on continuous improvement activities
• Create test methods and systems to assess process capability and control of paint and surface treatment process systems; validate performance in comparison to marketplace competitors
• Participate in cross-functional engineering forums within the Paint Business Unit to support and/or troubleshoot quality, delivery, and productivity issues
• Determine process system specifications required for all paint and surface treatment materials, including alignment with new and existing manufacturing technologies
• Initiate and execute various experiment designs and feasibility studies for emerging paint and surface treatment process systems and manufacturing technologies
• Coordinate and prioritize derivative and platform projects and promote a culture of continuous improvement with plant personnel, material suppliers and equipment suppliers

Minimum Education and Required Experience:
• BS Degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering with high level technical paint manufacturing experience in Auto/Truck Paint; or 6 years of advanced technical paint manufacturing experience in Auto/Truck Paint.
• Demonstrated ongoing continuous education in paint processes, paint, and surface treatment materials, while recognizing the limitations and creating improvements for paint process systems.
• Demonstrated passion for Paint business performance and safety.
Required Skills:
• Advanced fundamental understanding of paint and surface treatment materials, and translate experimental solutions into process engineering requirements
• High level of demonstrated computer skill proficiency including but not limited to, Microsoft products (Power Point, Word, Excel, etc.)
Other Requirements:
• All documentation is in English, proficiency in the English language is required.
• Demonstrate Quality and Financial accountability (Quality improvements and cost reductions)
