Vacancy Announcement  - LPN
The Cincinnati Public Schools invites applicants to apply for the position of Licensed Practical Nurse . Under the general supervision of Cincinnati Public Schools and the Cincinnati Health Department to support the needs of students with disabilities or physical impairments.  To provide direct patient care which adheres to the standards of the Licensed Practical Nurse Practice Act of the State of Ohio.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide direct patient care demonstrating skills matching patient needs
• Plans and provides care based on daily assessment of the patient, Individual Education  Plan (IEP), Individualized Health Plan (IHP) and/or physician’s orders
• Promotes optimal patient wellness by assisting the patient to adapt to their illness or wellness state
• Reports significant findings and changes in patient status to appropriate personnel
• Documents and maintains clincal records in accordance with school district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations
• Maintains competency and enhances professional growth and commitment to interpersonal service toward patients, parents, administration, and co-workers
• Perform other duties as assigned; such as but not limited to, providing back-up medical assistance for students when needed
• Interprets assessment findings and conveys information to parents and school staff
• Consults with school staff, parents, administrators, physicians, community and other professionals in order to gather and communicate information to meet the needs of students
• Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research, and by maintaining professional relationships

• Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
• Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
• Knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Section 504, and other federal and state laws and regulations regarding education and students
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Effective computer skills as needed for work (e.g., ability to effective use Microsoft Office suite)
• Ability to organize and coordinate work
• Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
QUALIFICATIONS PROFILE
Certification/License :
• State Certification to practice as evidenced by current state licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse
• Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation
Experience/Preferred Skills :
• Documented evidence of a minimum of 12 months experience working with children in an educational or other pediatric practice setting
• Tracheotomy care, catheterization procedures and gastrostomy tube feeding
EMPLOYMENT PROVISIONS
Starting Salary Range: $25.72 per hour
Service Period:                    School year only, 7 hours per day
