They will handle day-to-day management of personnel and programs to allow GEship’s Founding Director to focus on growing the GEship and expanding opportunities for Georgetown to accomplish our mission of educating aspiring entrepreneurs, supporting alumni in entrepreneurial endeavors, and utilizing the power of entrepreneurship to make a positive impact on the world.This position is responsible for day-to-day management and operations of the fast- growing campus-wide Initiative. In this capacity, the Director will oversee the delivery of the current academic and experiential learning programs including: pitch competitions (7+ each year), mentorship programs (40+ entrepreneurs in residence and other mentors), student club activities (for over 5 clubs), budgeting, performance metrics, supervising student workers and staff, Eship Minor curriculum support, outreach to community partners, and all other activities needed to support a top-tier university center.Work InteractionsThis position will report to the GEship founding director and also works closely with the managers of other new programs (for example, the Georgetown Startup Internship program) when these subsequent strategic initiatives are introduced. Directly supervising and supporting the Student Program Manager and the Venture Lab assistant director, the Director will oversee all communications (brochures, social media, web content) and activities relating to the GUEI, for a range of audiences, to include current and prospective students, business and community leaders, donors, board members. This includes support across all units of Georgetown as it is a multi-disciplinary Initiative. They also have consistent, supportive interactions with the Entrepreneurship Advisory Group members, the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Alliance, as well as faculty and staff across the McDonough School of Business and other parts of the University.The director represents the McDonough School and the GEship accurately and persuasively in front of both external and internal audiences, including prominent members of the DC business and startup communities, alumni, donors, current and prospective students. The Director maintains relationships with Executive/Custom Programs, the MBA and MSB undergraduate program offices, Business for Impact, Technology Commercialization office, Red House, Career Center, Campus Housing, Maker Space, Georgetown Entrepreneurship Alliance, Alumni Affairs, and several other crucial external partnerships (eg. WeWork).Requirements and QualificationsBachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Business Administration or graduate degree in analytics or finance required.7 to 10 years of proven managerial experience including strategy development and management of staff, and direct responsibility for unit performance.Experience working in entrepreneurial business settings of their own creation or of others is strongly preferred, as is experience developing programs and executing programs within a higher education or comparable environment.Experience dealing with and managing relationships with high-level business executives, administrators, and managing boards of directors.Experience with time management, negotiation, budgeting, and financial modeling.Experience in sales or customer service.Passion for and experience in the field of entrepreneurship education.Outgoing, articulate, well-organized individual, with a welcoming and calm demeanor and a natural inclination toward client service.Strong professional presence, excellent interpersonal skills, and exceptional verbal and written communication skills.High level of attention to detail and an eye for process improvement.Motivated by the challenge of working in a fast-paced and growing environment.
