Job Description
Chief Engineer WVTF Public Radio: Design, construct, maintain, monitor and repair the technical facilities of multi-station public radio system serving most of Western & Central Virginia with twenty five electronic sites. Supervise the station's technical and logging operations. Consult with, and provide training to station personnel about the station's technical operation. Monitor daily operations to insure legal compliance with technical rules and regulations of Federal Communications Commission. Maintains studio and transmitter physical plants.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field or bachelor's degree and experience.
Ability to operate a variety of test equipment for both analog and digital systems.
Must be knowledgeable of current FCC Rules and Regulations and radio station operations.
Must be able to lead and supervise people.
Must have good interpersonal skills for dealing with people both inside and outside the radio station.
Prior experience in broadcast or military communications electronics and operational experience with a broadcast station is required.
Ability to work nights and weekends, and participation in college or university programs when possible.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in public broadcasting.
